Who we are

In 2014, we launched the digital review Progreso para la inclusión y el desarrollo social (Progreso for inclusion and social development) dedicated to legislative developments affecting the microfinance sector and the latest trends in international corporate governance.

Each edition includes an interview with a renowned personality and an op-ed signed by relevant personalities from the microfinance, development, social and economic inclusion or technology sector.

Since its creation, the review has followed trends in the microfinance sector, and in 2023 began to incorporate articles summarizing the activity of the BBVA Microfinance Foundation (FMBBVA) and its group of microfinance institutions, which support the development of vulnerable entrepreneurs in five Latin American countries. Thus, with this publication, the BBVAMF shares its experience in the microfinance sector as the leading foundation in contribution to development in Latin America, according to data on Private Philanthropy for Development published by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

Progreso is a pioneering initiative in Spain that also compiles an overview of the most relevant regulations, reports and legal publications at a global level. It also includes academic documents, publications from multilateral organizations, summaries of summaries of laws and reviews of publications on microfinance or good governance.

This publication is aimed at the main players in the sector: governments, regulators, supervisors, legislators and members of international multilateral organizations, universities, rating companies, media, foundations, Spanish and international non-profit financial institutions, associations and financial institutions, among others.
